Outstanding Scholar - Alex Wright Award

Awarded annually to a senior student within the Community Development program (formerly Recreation Managment) chosen by the faculty, who best exemplifies energy and enthusiasm for learning, coupled with an inquiring mind, and demonstrates creative thinking, analytical reasoning and effective communication skills.

Olivia Giansante-Torres
2019

Olivia, as a two-year transfer student, packed an immense amount of energy, enthusiasm and excellence in learning in her short time at Acadia, while contributing to the life of the program and the ESST Student Society. Unable to do an honours degree in the short time frame, she dove into a major independent study examining how best to educate people about climate change which in the end was as extensive as an honours project. Always one to go the extra distance and to help others get there, Olivia helped make the program and Acadia a cutting edge and stimulating place for learning.
