Learn about Community Development from this video produced by a student...
Why Community Development?
We develop professionals who are leaders that contribute to building active, healthy, sustainable communities and lifestyles. Students may maintain a broad focus or specialize in one of four areas of study:
|• Recreation Management||• Community Wellness|
|• Social Activism||• Outdoor & Adventure Ed|
Students work collaboratively with faculty in small classes and the community. Each student is an individual, not a number, who grows his or her leadership skills. Essential theory and concepts are balanced with hands-on learning. Each year, students participate in major community projects, including a 4th year option in an international setting. They gain valuable work experience in organizations relevant to their interest through a professional work placement. Graduates complete the equivalent of a minor in management. A co-op option is available for all of the degrees.
