My special interest is on developing tools and wisdom that help people develop a profound sense of stillness in themselves through experiences in natural places. In addition to working as a hiking and snowshoe guide, I train guides in the mountains parks about the natural and cultural history. I use stories continually to entertain and delight my listeners.
What I Learned
My time at Acadia helped me hone my computer skills, which are essential in today's world. The flexibility of the degree allowed me to enjoy classes in other disciplines, which turned out to be very enjoyable and educational. As well I found enormous value in the business classes which were required with the degree. These three combined elements helped me create a local business that is professional, well thought out and increasing in its exposure quickly (it's under a year old).
My Acadia Highlights
My favourite experience at Acadia was the ability to get to know the profs and students personally through potlucks, retreats, recreational activities and group projects. As well, I greatly value the way this degree helped me think in a multidisciplinary way, from community and personal development to environmental and social issues- in the end I could see how all of these seemingly unrelated topics are deeply related.
